Van Damme Silver-Quest Flat-cap Analogue Audiophile Interconnect Cable.
These interconnects for the price are a sonic marvel, we feel their performance is far superior to their relatively small price tag. One of the most articulate dynamic neutral cables we have tested at this price point ever!
The main difference between the Flat-cap and the Hi-cap is the Flat-cap has a more neutral sound, but still retaining the dynamic range of the Hi-cap, it still manages to remove some of the top end harshness found in silver cables, but does not boost the lower dynamics as much as the Hi-cap does.
Their dynamic capability with out being too bright and harsh on the top end is thanks to Van Damme’s very clever use of the capacitance of the cable, by increasing the capacitance of the cable in turn increases the top end roll off of the higher frequencies, when the calculation is right the results are quite dramatic, the harsh brightness of silver can be controlled without loosing its vast dynamic range and articulate capability, an amazing side effect of this is the mid and low frequencies are emphasised more thus increasing the whole dynamic effect, although very subtle in the Flat-cap.
The cable is clear without being bright, dynamic low frequencies with out being boomy, and solid mid frequencies.
This cable is ideally suited to those wishing to have a very dynamic but neutral cable without it becoming tiresome like a lot of silver interconnects can be.
The plugs we have chosen to partner with this cable are the Audioquest RCA 300 the build quality of these plugs is outstanding, and due to their solid construction they do not influence the sound of this amazing cable.
The cable has very good flexibility, feels and looks like a cable three times its price; if a cable could be sexy this is that cable.
Flat-Cap 90: 90 p/F per metre. Mid range capacitance figure gives average high frequency roll off
It is often used in recording studios, and is also recommended for use as high quality interconnects for HiFi and Home Cinema. If music is mastered using this cable then what better cable to use to play the music back on!
Application notes
Within this range of cables capacitance is being used to produce different high frequency roll offs which affects the sound of the source component at its destination amplifier.
Overall capacitive effects will of course change over distance; a 10m Lo-Cap 55 cable would have a total capacitance of 550 pF as would a 4.4 metre Hi-Cap 125.
Shorter lengths (up to 5 metres) are recommended for these cables but where a longer run is required a lower capacitance cable should be considered for use
